8. How Do I Practice Self-Care?
Practicing self-care can be as easy as walking or for some people, it’s equivalent to climbing a mountain. Where do I stand?
On day 8th of the challenge, I am sharing what I do to practice self-care. To be honest, in my early years, I hadn’t paid much attention to taking care of myself. Like any young adult, I partied, consumed alcohol sometimes other substances, and even cigarettes.
It wasn’t long that I paid a heavy price for my health. A lot was physical, when things went on a downward spiral, I also struggled with emotional and other mental aspects.
It took some time and a couple of more such instances before I realized that taking care of ourselves when we can is the best thing to do.
Having said that, I don’t specifically follow a strict routine or anything. I do a few things that help me keep everything else in check.
My Self Care Habits
Worry Less: Things can get pretty heavy, pretty soon. It’s important to stay mentally balanced when things don’t go our way. I try not to worry about the things that I can’t control and do something about the things that I can change.
Healthier Lifestyle Choices: I wrote in detail about the healthier lifestyle choices that we can make in order to take care of ourselves. What we do on a daily basis makes a lot of difference.
Stay Focused: On the things that you want to achieve, and put in your best efforts to achieve them. Staying on track with anything will always keep us in better shape whether it is completing daily tasks, following a diet, or a workout regime. Letting things build-up can cause unnecessary stress. We don’t want that, do we?
Life’s essence is in the simpler things, we have to enjoy it as much as we can. When we are losing our health, it becomes difficult to see the good things. That affects our outlook towards life in general and also affects the way we live our lives.
