A super hearty native plant of East African origin is one plant that you can’t kill. Doesn’t ask for a lot, handles neglect and is especially good for someone who wants to add indoor plants but can’t pay too much attention on a regular basis.
Requirements: Light - Low to Moderate, Soil - Well Draining potting soil, Water - Low, let the soil dry out before watering again.
Rubber Plant – Ficus Elastica

This alien looking plant became my favorite in no time, once it adjusts to the surrounding it grows quite fast with big broad leaves. It is a huge houseplant with high requirement for bright indirect light. Although, direct afternoon sun can burn the leaves.

Peace Lily – Spathiphyllum
With nearly 40 species of this plant, they rule both South American and Southeastern Asian regions. It gets slightly irritated with tap water because of the salt content that can turn the leaves brown and this plant will tell you when it’s thirsty, leaves droop and sag. As per a study conducted by NASA Peace Lily is one of the Air Purifying Indoor Plant.

Zebra Plant – Howarthia Fasciata
Its succulent type Zebra like pattern is a perfect tabletop or a desktop plant. It is a flowering plant provided it gets bright light with mild morning sunlight. Also called as String of Beads, i guess that comes as no surprise. This has been going around on Instagram so much that it feels it must have been sold out at many nurseries. Perfect for shelves, the beads or strings rolling down is an eye candy everyday.
Requirements: Light - Moderate to Bright, it would prefer brighter conditions but no harsh sunlight, Soil - Well Draining & Aerated, Water - Low to Moderate, play it by the ear.
Snake Plant – Dracaena Trifasciata
Another funny name it is known by is Mother-In-Law’s tongue and i shall not discuss why. A super strong plant, can handle neglect better than any other and doesn’t ask for much care. For busy folks, it’s the best thing.
